Precipitation Retaliation Happy Hour

Friday February 22, 2019 5:30PM to 9PM
In 2008, Bockfest was almost entirely shut down by the largest snowfall in 20 years. A motley band of hardcore Bockfest fans took to the streets to parade through the snow, and hunkered down at Bockfest Hall to enjoy their delicious Bock beer. Unfortunately, everyone else was not so lucky and couldn’t make it to Over-the-Rhine.
In 2009, we felt a little retaliation was in order. A snowman effigy was acquired, and set alight at Grammer’s amid much celebration. The gods were thus put on notice, and provided us with a beautiful Bockfest weekend. With similar results in 2010 after burning another snowman at Milton’s, a tradition was born. We cannot conclusively guarantee that we have acquired the power to control the weather in Cincinnati, but it has worked for the past three years. In 2012, in fact, we attribute this ritual to why a tornado that was supposed to hit downtown Cincinnati was substituted with clearing skies in time for the parade. As importantly, burning a snowman is a lot more fun than watching a groundhog stick its head out of a hole.

Join us as we make our ritual sacrifice for 2019. Watch as we burn this year’s victim at the stake at 8PM and toast to a beautiful Bockfest weekend. The Precipitation Retaliation Happy Hour will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 5:30PM to 9PM (burning at 8PM), at Milton's Tavern, 301 Milton Street, Cincinnati Ohio 45202

Tapping of the Bocks

Thursday February 28, 2019
Picture
Help us kick off the Bockfest weekend with a special night of bock beer.

On Thursday February 28 Arnold’s kicks off Bockfest in style with The Tapping of the Bocks. Join us as we ceremoniously tap 17 Bock beers at once to officially kick off our Bockfest celebration at Arnold’s. We are tapping what we believe to be the most bock beers on tap at one time in the entire world. No one has proven us wrong yet. So we continue to go with it. The tapping is proceeded by a blessing from Franciscan Monk Brother Tim and a spirited rendition of The Bockfest Song by Jake Speed and the Freddies right there at the bar. If you love Bockfest or Cincinnati or both, it’s something special that you really should not miss. Jake Speed follows up The Bockfest Song in the bar with a full show out in the courtyard from 7P-9P. More details including full beer list HERE.

The Tapping of the Bocks will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Arnold's Bar & Grill 208 West 8th Street, Cincinnati Ohio 45202

Join us for the ceremonial tapping of the Hudepohl Festival Bock.

Our friends at Christian Moerlein Brewing Company are extremely pleased to announce Hudepohl Bock Bier will not only be available in draft this year, but limited quantities of six pack bottles. Come join us for the official keg tapping and bottle release of Hudepohl Bock Bier in the Moerlein Malthouse taproom.

Hudepohl Bock was first brewed in the 1800's by Ludwig Hudepohl literally about 200 yards from where Hudepohl is brewed now. The German neighborhood of Over-theRhine would celebrate every spring when Hudepohl Bock was released. We carry on this tradition today by bringing to you this years delicious Hudepohl bock bier brew.  Its also Friday Pizza Night ($6 - $9 hand-tossed medium depends on toppings) with live music beginning with open mic at 6PM and featured act at 7:30PM. Featured act will be Mike Oberst of the TILLERS.

Schoenling Bock is a traditional bock beer pouring copper in color with an assertive malty aroma and flavor. Caramel, dark dried fruit and toasty flavors are present with the use of German Munich and Crystal malts. ABV: 6.3% IBU: 25

Beefsteak Club Dinner

Wednesday February 6, 2019 6PM
Picture
The Beefsteak Club returns to support the 27th Bockfest! As the name suggests, the event includes dinner, but the experience does not involve steak. In the spring of 1896, the Windisch-Muhlhauser Brewery hosted some of the most prominent Cincinnatians. Guests enjoyed an elegant meal with beer pairings in the unlikely ambiance of the brewery. Cincinnati’s political and social elite enjoyed the experience so much that it became a regular occurrence, and the standard guest list called themselves members of the Beefsteak Club. We carry on this tradition to help support Bockfest, the most unique and fun neighborhood festival in the region.

This year we take the dinner to the Moerlein Lager House, where the talented culinary team will create an unique dinner paired with your favorite bock beers. Your dinner will include 4 courses and 5 different bock beers, as well as stories, art, and more from Bockfest celebrations of past year. Tickets are $75/person and include beer, dinner, desert, complimentary copy of the 2019 Bockfest print, and more. Tickets help support the non-profit Bockfest and keep the event free.

The Beefsteak Club Dinner was held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 6PM at the Moerlein Lager House located at 115 Joe Nuxhall Way, Cincinnati Ohio 45202
